Chelsea
established
Zimmerman Eventing,
Inc. in 2003 in
response to a demand
for horse training
and sales in
Northern Colorado,
especially in the
sport of eventing.
Three-day eventing
can be described as
the triathalon of
equestrian sports.
Horse and rider
compete in three
phases: dressage,
cross-country, and
show jumping.
Dressage tests the
discipline and
communication
between horse and
rider as they
complete a series of
movements which are
judged from 0 to 10
and then calculated
to give a penalty
score.

Cross-country
is the ultimate test
of bravery and trust
as the pair
negotiates a course
of solid obstacles
and technical
questions over
varying terrain, all
while galloping at
high speeds. The
last phase, show
jumping, proves the
strength and
precision of a pair
as dropped rails and
time faults during
the course of bright
jumps and tight
turns can cost them
a top three
placing. The sport
requires the horse
and rider to be in
top physical
condition, as
veterinarians check
the soundness of the
horse at
inspections. In
order to place well,
the pair must
perform in perfect
harmony. This takes
years of hard work
and training to
develop, but the end
result is beyond
rewarding.
